Previously I wrote an article about “How to Sell AI Images for Money” and today I want to continue that series by talking about how to sell Music created with AI by using multiple platforms at our disposal.
First, we have to acquire the music and there are free services and there are paid ones – but please understand that usually the paid ones are the only ones that give you commercial rights to the track(s) otherwise you can’t legally sell them. Most of these platforms tell you wherever you can use their music for monetary reasons on their FAQ page!
Generating Your Audio First
So first we have to pick up a service that creates Music that is high quality enough to pass the requirements of the services we are going to cover later, this includes anywhere from songs having to be in certain formats like WAV or 44khz minimum for instance. We are going to break the AI Sound prompters into 3 different categories; Instrumental, Singing & Sound effects with this you can better strategize what tool and selling niche you want to operate on.
- StockMusicGPT (Instrumental & Sound Effects) – This one doesn’t have a free version, but its basic plan is quite cheap and gives you access to generate instrumental tracks that might require some post-mastering in order to get accepted on distribution platforms, more expensive plans include also mastering, remixing and Sound effects.
- Suno (Singing & Instrumental) – By far the most advanced tool probably for the highest quality music, but you only get to sell it if you have an active subscription with them, however, the end quality is great, despite not a lot of customization options.
- Elevenlabs (Sound Effects) – Has the capability of video-to-sound effects prompting, which can replicate nature sounds and voices of machinery and other things, it’s a niche but affordable option I would say
- Soundverse (Instrumental) – Decent quality instrumental music can be generated with Soundverse’s platform and it has couple of neat features that let you alter your tracks a fair bit
- Loudly (Instrumental) – This is a unique platform due to the fact that it allows you both generate your music here and has in-built distribution at the same time, however, it’s a bit costlier on your bundle if you take the publishing
- VoiceStars (Singing) – This AI service lets you generate tracks with the voices of established music artists and in the near future, you can also publish and distribute them via many of the big music platforms like Spotify, iTunes, and others
- Soundraw (Instrumental) – Another AI service that has also the ability to self-publish music via different distributors, however, this is a bit more expensive option compared to any other entry in this list
After we have generated our audio tracks it’s time to start going into the selling phase which is majorly broken down into two different strategies and categories.
Selling your AI Audio Effects & Music
As you might have already guessed places like Fiverr are mega-saturated marketplaces where people are already selling all types of Audio services for people, so there is no point in even exploring that.
This leaves us two avenues for making money with our audio first one being releasing the music part of an EP or Album and distributing that through a vendor that is adding your stuff to Spotify, iTunes, Shazam, Tidal, Napster, Tecent and you name it. Now, not all services are allowing AI Uploads, you can go much more undetected if you especially upload Instrumental music.
- Distrokid – Another very big prominent music distributor that allows unlimited uploads on all their plans, so if you want to upload a lot of stuff this is your option (Plus you get a -7% discount using the link here from your order)
- Soundrop – This music platform allows AI uploads and charges 0,99$ per track uploaded they have a nice roster of services through which the music goes and they also remix uploads but those cost slightly more, there are no recurring payments after paying initially for your upload.
The second avenue of making money is to distribute your Sound Effects or music to a Licensing company (Royalty-free music etc.) which means you are selling them as Stock Audio or Stock Music – this method can yield a lot higher returns as licensing a track gets more money than someone buying your track in iTunes for instance. Compared to the method above this is often totally free too, but perhaps a lot less consistent way of making revenue compared to plays.
- Pond5 – If you want to upload both music or Sound Effects Pond5 allows both and they got pretty fast review times
- Premiumbeat – Owned by Shutterstock a stock music/Sound effect website that allows submissions, however, you have to get vetted before you become a contributor on their platform (which might take a while)
This is a work in progress… trying to add a lot of relevant information here with the latest stuff, contact [email protected] if you need something updated.
